Psychological well-being, general balance, cognitive performance and fall prevention are some of the many benefits of regular Tai Chi practice. Tai Chi is also a form of Qigong. It can be referred to as “Meditation in Motion” and has been around for thousands of years.

John Putman has over thirty years of martial arts experience and is offering personalized Tai Chi instruction that is tailored to each person’s body type and physical ability. The main goal of the class is to provide a positive experience with each lesson, focus on core fundamentals and learning one movement or form at a time. Students of all ages can benefit from the practice of Tai Chi while learning at their own individual pace.

Students interested in discovering the deeper essence of Taijiquan must develop a calm, concentration of the mind and have precise control of the physical self. Learning a Tai Chi set consisting of forms can help students develop physically, mentally and spiritually. However, a student must spend many years in a state of continual practice and pondering to achieve an advanced level of Taijiquan. More advanced forms of practice like Pushing Hands, Martial Application of Techniques and Taiji Weapons are available to students who demonstrate competency beyond the basic level of Tai Chi.
